Graphic Design assignments - Part 1

Graphic Design Assignments - Part 1
The following compositions are assignments I did as part of the course "Fundamentals of Graphic Design".
This is course 1 of the specialisation "Graphic Design" taught by CalArts (California Institute of the Arts) on coursera.org.

The following compositions follow precise guidelines from the course.
Nothing more, nothing less.
1 - Fundamentals of Imagemaking
Create 10 denotative representations of an household object.
Create 3 connotative representations of the same object.
2 - Fundamentals of Typography
4 typefaces to convey 4 different meanings.
3 black & white business cards with a monogram.
3 - Fundamentals of shape & colour
Part 1: create 12 simple (and random) black & white shapes.
Combine these 12 shapes by pairs, to create 6 shapes.
Let's play with contrast.
Combine these 6 shapes by pairs, to create 3 shapes.
Part 2: now add colours. Let's play with the background & the figure, and contrast.

The 12 basic shapes.
The 6 shapes.
The 3 shapes.
Then create a repetitive pattern, inspired by a period/movement/etc, using the 12 simple shapes.
(I was inspired by the colourful tiles I saw during my trip to the Netherlands in 2018.)
4 - Fundamentals of composition
Demonstrate single contrast, by creating 6 images.
In each one: 2 elements, 1 contrast.
Demonstrate double & triple contrast, by creating 2 images of both.
Double contrast: 3 elements, 2 contrasts
Triple contrast: as many elements as desired, 3 contrasts.

Final project
Create a poster using all the elements learned throughout the course.

This is a poster to promote a band's album.
The band name has to use the object and the adjective seen in PART 1 and PART 2 of this course. Create an appropriate album's name.
Thank you for looking at this project until the end! :)
